Our Mission

The mission of the Macon County Conservation District is to promote the conservation of natural and cultural resources by acquiring, maintaining, and restoring areas of natural and cultural significance within Macon County, and to protect and preserve those spaces for the education, recreation, and enjoyment of all its citizens in perpetuity.

Due to last night's storms, the Rock Springs Nature Center and Rock Springs-Fairview Bike Trail are closed today, Friday, June 12. Summer camps are also canceled for today and we are in the process of contacting all parents and guardians. We will wait until later in the day to make a decision about the What Flies at Night: Discovering Moths with Kevin Wiener.
The trails at our other sites are being assessed by crews. For your safety and the safety of our staff, we suggest exercising caution or waiting to hike until all trails have been cleared of debris or blockages.
We will keep you updated. Thank you for your understanding.
