Rock Springs Ramble 5K Run/Walk

The Macon County Conservation Foundation will be hosting their fifth annual Rock Springs Ramble this spring on Saturday, May 17. This race features a 5K, a 1-mile Fun Run/Walk, the Rock Springs Challenge, and a Kid’s Fun Run. It will begin and end at the main parking lot at the Rock Springs Conservation Area and utilize portions of the Rock Springs-Fairview Bike Trail. Registration is $35/runner for the 5k or 1-mile, $65/runner for the Rock Springs Challenge, and $10/child for the Kid’s Fun Run. Event details All equipment is provided for this leisurely exploration of a local waterway. Canoes and kayaks are available, and at least one adult is required per boat. Enjoy an Independence Day celebration 1860s style! Tour Homestead Prairie Farm, see the heirloom vegetable and herb gardens, play with vintage toys and games, and at 6:30pm, enjoy a performance from Wild Columbine, a group that plays traditional music from the 17th-20th centuries. Visitors are invited to bring lawn chairs. In case of rain, the concert will be moved inside Rock Springs Nature Center. Free. No registration required.

Van Trip to Lincoln Park Zoo

Venture to downtown Chicago to visit the second-oldest zoo in the United States. Nearly 200 species of animals can be found, including rhinos, polar bears, macaques, and more.
