Experience the wonder of hummingbirds up close at the Macon County Conservation District’s annual Hummingbird Festival, taking place on Thursday, August 21, from 3-6 pm at Rock Springs Conservation Area. Attendees can watch as wild hummingbirds are carefully caught, banded, and released, offering a rare glimpse into the world of these fascinating creatures. Arrive early for a chance to help release a hummingbird and enter a drawing to win a special prize. Bring a lawn chair to the west lawn of Rock Springs Nature Center and enjoy the afternoon.
