Rock Springs Ramble 5K Run/Walk

The Macon County Conservation Foundation will be hosting their fifth annual Rock Springs Ramble this spring on Saturday, May 17. This race features a 5K, a 1-mile Fun Run/Walk, the Rock Springs Challenge, and a Kid’s Fun Run. It will begin and end at the main parking lot at the Rock Springs Conservation Area and utilize portions of the Rock Springs-Fairview Bike Trail. Registration is $35/runner for the 5k or 1-mile, $65/runner for the Rock Springs Challenge, and $10/child for the Kid’s Fun Run. Independence Day 1860

Enjoy an Independence Day celebration 1860s style! Tour Homestead Prairie Farm, see the heirloom vegetable and herb gardens, play with vintage toys and games, and at 6:30pm, enjoy a performance from Wild Columbine, a group that plays traditional music from the 17th-20th centuries. Visitors are invited to bring lawn chairs. In case of rain, the concert will be moved inside Rock Springs Nature Center. Free. No registration required.

Astronomy Jamboree

Friends Creek Conservation Area 13734 Friends Creek Park Road, Argenta, IL, United States

Enjoy live music from 8-8:45pm, create a craft to take home, enter a giveaway, and view the stars, visible planets, and possibly even a shooting star or two. Hot dogs, s'mores, and refreshments provided. Bring your telescope and share your knowledge.  Free. Register online by August 8. Register Online for this Event Calling amateur astronomers!  We are looking for folks to bring and set up their telescopes and share knowledge during this “star party” at Friends Creek Conservation Area.
