Hummingbird Festival

Experience the wonder of hummingbirds up close at the Macon County Conservation District’s annual Hummingbird Festival, taking place on Thursday, August 21, from 3-6 pm at Rock Springs Conservation Area. Attendees can watch as wild hummingbirds are carefully caught, banded, and released, offering a rare glimpse into the world of these fascinating creatures. Arrive early for a chance to help release a hummingbird and enter a drawing to win a special prize. Bring a lawn chair to the west lawn of Rock Springs Nature Center and enjoy the afternoon. Fall Harvest Festival

Celebrate fall at Rock Springs Nature Center with fall-themed activities including archery, canoeing, pumpkin painting, wagon rides, tours at Homestead Prairie Farm, and more. Archery and canoeing are $3 per person, pumpkin painting is $5 per pumpkin, and all other events are free. The Macon County Conservation Foundation will also have a concession stand with snacks for purchase. No registration required.
